Etannibi E.O. ALEMIKA earned B.Sc. and M.Sc. Sociology from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria) and M.S. and Ph.D. Criminology from the Department of Social System Sciences, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (USA). He is a Professor of Criminology and Sociology of Law at the University of Jos, Nigeria. His areas of competence, research and teaching include policing, organised crime, security sector reform and governance, human rights and democracy, conflict studies, and criminal justice policy and reform.

He has published widely in the areas of crime, police and policing, prisons, criminal justice, drug policy, security sector governance and organized crime in reputable journals like Journal of Criminal Justice; International journal of Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice; Police Studies; International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, and Crime, Law and Social Change. He has considerable experience working with the police, prisons, intelligence and other security agencies in Nigeria and several international organizations and networks. Dr. Alemika is a member of the editorial board of several international journals like Police Practice and Research and the Australia and New Zealand Journal of Criminology.

Prof. Abubakar Mu’azu teaches Mass Communication at the University of Maiduguri, He was a students’ union official and has been involved in the human rights movement since 1993. His interests are in media, conflict, human rights, crime and deviance and features in media discussions on these issues.

He is the Coordinator, Good Governance and Human Rights at the Centre for Peace, Diplomatic and Development Studies (CPDDS) and is also the Director of the Directorate of Remedial Studies at the University of Maiduguri. He belongs to several civil society organisations working towards promoting and protecting human rights and freedoms.

Professor Ayo Atsenuwa holds an LL.M. degree in Law and Development from University of Warwick and another LL.M. degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from University of London. She is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Her work experience spans research and teaching at the university level, programming for development as well as NGO management. A Professor of Law at the University of Lagos, her fields of research and teaching interest are Human Rights, Criminal Justice, Gender Studies and Health Law.

Professor Atsenuwa has been an adjunct Professor on the collaborative LL.M. Programme in Human Rights and Development in Africa of the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, South Africa since 2012. She has also been involved with Legal Research and Resource Development Centre, a Nigerian human rights non-governmental organisation, since 1995 and served as its Executive Director for many years.

A strong advocate of law reform for development, she has consulted for the federal and state governments as well as various international and national organisations including UNDP, UNIFEM (now UNWomen), UNODC, UNOHCHR, Ford Foundation, DFID, USAID and CIDA on projects aimed at promoting criminal justice and human rights including gender rights and development. Dr Nkwachukwu Orji holds a PhD in Political Science from the Central European University, Budapest-Hungary. He is a researcher and teacher with expertise in political science and development studies. He has received training and experience at universities and research institutions in Nigeria, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, and Sweden.

He has held teaching, research, advisory, and project management positions in several institutions including University of Nigeria, German Institute of Global and Area Studies, Nordic African Institute, Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre, United National Development Programme (UNDP) and Department for International Development (DFID).

He has authored several articles on elections, democratization, conflict, and peace-building. Ms Pricilla Ankut holds an LLM (Master’s degree) in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She has an LL.B (Hons) from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

She is currently the pioneer Executive Vice Chair/ Chief Executive Officer of the Kaduna State Peace Commission. Before joining the Kaduna State Peace Commission, she had 18 years of professional experience in managing donor funded programs (European Commission, UNDP, UK DFID). Ms Ankut has technical expertise in democratic governance with experience in human rights, inclusive political processes, justice sector reform, conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Benson Chinedu Olugbuo holds a Ph.D in Public Law from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria with more that fifteen years post call experience in international criminal justice.

He was a Fox International Fellow and Visiting Assistant in Research at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University, United States of America (2011-2012) and the Anglophone Africa Coordinator for the NGO Coalition for the International Criminal Court (2004-2009).
