In partnership with the MacArthur Foundation, CLEEN Foundation successfully convened the Policing Executive Forum (PEF) in Abuja. The forum served as a platform for multi-agency dialogue on the future of policing reform in Nigeria. Participants included high-level representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Navy, DSS, Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Ministry of Justice, media, and civil society.
Administration of Criminal Justice efficient application was also a central topic. The forum provided a space for sharing best practices and learning from successes and failures across different jurisdictions. It encourages the development of policies that ensure accountability, safeguard human rights, and adapt to changing societal needs. A highlight of the event was a keynote presentation by Prof. Yemi Akinseye-George, SAN, advocating for a hybrid policing model that blends technology, traditional methods, and community collaboration to achieve transparency and trust in law enforcement.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd.), also addressed the forum, stressing the need for increased investment in investigative and intelligence capacity, backed by strong accountability mechanisms.
