3-Day Training for DPOs on GBV Preventive Strategies in Kaduna

With continued support from the Ford Foundation and in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, CLEEN Foundation held a three-day capacity-building training for Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in Kaduna. Officers drawn from 12 states across all geopolitical zones participated in the training, which aimed to equip frontline police leaders with tools and strategies to prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV). These sessions provided an opportunity to explore survivor-centred policing, proactive intervention models, and leadership accountability in GBV response.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, graced the workshop and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to integrating gender-sensitive practices across its operations.

Additional learning was around the enforcement of laws and the role of DPOs on case management. Experiences illustrated successful policy implementations in other regions, providing insight into potential strategies for Kaduna. As part of learning, participants demonstrated in role-playing exercises, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between DPOs, law enforcement, and community leaders.
