NPF Strengthens Citizen-Centered Policing with Strategic Communication Training

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has deepened its drive for citizen-centered policing through the launch of the second phase of its Strategic Communication Training Programme, in collaboration with the CLEEN Foundation.

The three-day intensive training, targets Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) from the southern region of the country and focuses on Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention.

The first phase was held in Kaduna, covering officers from the northern zone.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on behalf of the IGP, CP Oluhundare Jimoh Moshood, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, emphasized the need for responsive and strategic public engagement by police spokespersons.

The training aims to empower PPROs with modern tools to counter misinformation, promote behavioural change, and build trust between law enforcement and the public.

Modules include audience analysis, digital media usage, community engagement, and communication strategies to combat GBV.

The IGP reiterated the Force’s commitment to modern, ethical policing and pledged to sustain inter-agency partnerships and training for continuous professional development.
