CLEEN to FG: Invest in and Coordinate Disaster Risk Management After Devastating Flood Incident in Adamawa State
CLEEN Foundation expresses deep sympathy and solidarity with the Government and people of Adamawa State following the devastating flood incident that recently ravaged several communities, leading to widespread displacement, loss of property, and disruption of livelihoods. This tragic incident reinforces the urgency of investing in disaster preparedness, risk mitigation in risk prone states, and climate-resilient infrastructure. We are deeply saddened by the reports of the destruction, devastation and the disruption caused by the floods to the lives of innocent citizens, especially the most vulnerable children, women, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities who are disproportionately affected during unfortunate emergencies and the humanitarian crisis it has triggered across the affected areas. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost their homes, their means of income, and in some cases, their loved ones. We also recognize the ongoing efforts by emergency services, state authorities, and humanitarian actors to provide relief and restore safety and stability to the region.
We urge the Federal Government, humanitarian partners, and donor agencies to intensify their assistance in providing emergency relief, temporary shelter, healthcare services, and psychosocial support to displaced persons. At CLEEN Foundation, we acknowledge the critical role of these institutions in responding to emergencies and ensuring the protection of vulnerable populations.
Furthermore, we reiterate the urgent need for enhanced investment in climate resilience, early warning systems, and coordinated disaster risk management across Nigeria, especially in flood-prone areas like Adamawa. We stand in solidarity with the Adamawa State Government and remain committed to contributing to efforts that uphold public safety, human security, and community resilience.
