CLEEN Foundation and Police Service Commission set to monitor the conduct of Security Agents during Osun State Governorship Election

Friday 21st September 2018 For Immediate Release Osogbo and Abuja

The CLEEN Foundation in collaboration with the Police Service Commission and Kimpact Youth Development Initiative (KDI) is set to deploy over 90 domestic observers in the Osun State governorship election holding on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018.

At least three observers will be deployed to monitor the conduct of security agents on election duty in each of the 30 local government areas across the state.

On the Election Day, CLEEN will set-up Election Security Support Centres in Osogbo and our three offices in Abuja, Owerri and Lagos. The Support Centres will be coordinated simultaneously to keep Nigerians and the international community updated on developments in Osun State using social and traditional media.

The Centres will receive incident reports from our field observers, which will be shared with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Police Service Commission (PSC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Civil Society Situation Room for optimal monitoring and coordination of the governorship election.

In addition, CLEEN Foundation and INEC staff will be on Nigeria Info, 95.1 FM Radio Station (https://nigeriainfo.fm/live/), Abuja on Saturday morning from 8:00 am – 9:00 am for live commentaries and coverage from Osun State. Our personnel and partners on election observation duty will be interviewed live from the radio station.

We encourage all Osun State citizens who are registered voters to go out and carry out their civic responsibility while we employ INEC and all security agencies on election duty to take all necessary steps towards ensuring a free, fair and violent free election in Osun State.

This project is implemented under the European Union Support for Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN).
