Campaign against SGBV in Nigeria #16DaysofActivism2019
In collaboration with SGBV_FCT, CLEEN Foundation participated in the campaign against Sexual and Gender based violence in Abuja to sensitize the general public about sexual and genderbased violence as an offence punishable by law while identifying the acts that are classified as gender based violence.
In light of this, the public was also sensitized on the need to speak out and report cases of Sexual and Gender Based Violence in order for perpetrators to be brought to book.
Over the years, gender based violence has been on the rise but there are no clear cut punishment for gender-based violators. The SGBV_FCT team carried out a campaign to pressure the federal government to put up clear cut judgments/punishments that will deter perpetrators or intending perpetrators of this act.
Victims were equally sensitized to speak up about violations so that offenders can be brought to book. The silence culture is making offenders go free and gives them the confidence to continue in this act.
