CLEEN Foundation Appoints Two New Trustees Mr. Jude Ilo Udo and Miss Chidinma Ekanem Chukwuma

CLEEN Foundation has appointed two new trustees as part of its drive towards ensuring effective governance and sustenance of the organisation as a leader in the security and access to justice non-profit sector in Nigeria. The appointment of Mr. Udo Jude Ilo and Miss Chidinma Ekanem Chukwuma, followed the decision of the Board at its meeting of September this year to sustain the activities of CLEEN Foundation.

Mr. Ilo is bringing to the Board of Trustees vast experience in the Civil Society sector in Nigeria with a very strong legal background. Since the restoration of civilian rule in 1999, Mr. Ilo has continued to engage with government on different platforms to impact on the processes of governance for effective and efficient service delivery to the Nigerian people.  He understands the capacity gaps in government and has engaged government on the processes and outcomes of elections, human rights and constitutional reform.  Being the activist that he is, Mr. Ilo was not just satisfied with the government as he was also concerned about building a critical mass that will demand for effective and efficient services from duty bearers which explains his continued working with citizens to promote knowledge of the processes of governance to demand for services and reforms.

Mr. Ilo is the Country Officer of the Open Society Initiative of West Africa (OSIWA), Nigeria Office.  He is also a Maurice Greenberg Yale World Fellow at the Yale University in the United States of America.  CLEEN is convinced that given his pedigree and commitment towards building a secured, more just and peaceful society, he will add values to the organization.

Miss Chidinma Ekanem Chukwuma is bringing to the Board of Trustees the dynamism of youth built on a solid legal education from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom.  She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2019. Although her interests are Impact Investing, Private Equity, Mergers and Acquisitions and Financial Technology, she has a strong commitment and drive for building a society where citizens’ rights are respected.

CLEEN Foundation is committed to ensuring that the organization give youth every opportunity to contribute to the development of the organisation and would serve as a strong motivation for the youth to strive to build a society where social justice prevails. Miss Chukwuma’s commitment is exemplified in her desire to enhance herself for quality service as after graduation she undertook a certificate programme in Impact Investing at the prestigious Graduate School of Business of the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

By these appointments, Mr. Ilo and Miss Chukwuma would also serve as members of the Board of CLEEN Foundation.
