CLEEN Foundation Pays Courtesy Visit to the Director General (DG) of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)
The CLEEN Foundation, on Wednesday February 16, 2022 paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General (DG) of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). The objective of the visit was to first congratulate her on her appointment as the DG of NAPTIP and secondly, to strengthen collaborative efforts in curbing the daunting menace of human trafficking, Gender Based Violence (SGV) and other related offences. Both parties affirmed the need for joint efforts and a whole of society’s approach to ending human trafficking in Nigeria.
The courtesy visit was a strategic move to leverage on the gains that the partnership between the Foundation and the Agency have recorded over the years. More recently, working closely with officers of NAPTIP on the CLEENs project “Preventing Forced Migration and Trafficking of Women and Girls in Nigeria; Building Resilience, Sustainable Development” has demonstrated the commitment of the Agency towards combating this ugly menace. The CLEEN Foundation believes that this partnership will support a coordinated approach to mitigate human trafficking and forced migration in the country.
Extensive conversations identified areas where the Agency intends to intensify its efforts working in close collaboration with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Community Based Organisations (CBOs), other government agencies, development partners and the private sector.
Conclusively, NAPTIP and the CLEEN Foundation pledged to provide continuous support in furtherance to the mandate of both organisations to end human trafficking and other related offences.
