CRIME PREVENTION PARTNERSHIP (CPP) WORKSHOP ON SOC PREVENT PROJECT IN IFAKO IJAYE AND IKORODU LGA

The CLEEN Foundation under the project Prevent Serious Organized Crime is implementing a community-driven and sustained crime-prevention project known as PREVENT Serious Organized Crime (SOC), in three Local government Areas of Lagos State (IFAKO IJAYE, IKORODU and AJEROMI-IFELODUN LGAs in Lagos State

The focal communities were selected due to the surge of cybercrimes, cultism, financial crimes, smuggling and drug trafficking, etc., within the above mentioned LGAs in Lagos State. These crimes are often because of poverty, poor parenting choices, high rate of school dropouts and peer pressure. As part of CLEEN Foundation’s effort to promote public safety and security in Nigeria, the project is geared towards supporting stakeholders in their effort to combat SOC, develop prevention interventions on how to mitigate SOC, and discourage young persons who are involved in such criminal acts to desist from such and expend their energy into something gainful. The project is a community driven crime prevention project, whereby members of the community with the help of security agents have critical roles to play by proffering local solutions to the lingering menace.

On the 1st and 4th of April 2021, a Crime Prevention Partnership Workshop was carried out in Ifako Ijaye and Ikorodu LGAs with the aim to engage the crime prevention partners to discuss progress in the localities as well as device innovative ways in curbing these organized crimes as the patterns continue to evolve. Recall also that a similar meeting was held on 30th March 2022. (Insert link)

Conclusively, the workshop and knowledge sharing process is continuous for partners to maintain relevance towards achieving set objectives in the implementation of this project. The importance of the role they place in helping these communities stay crime free and progressive cannot be over-emphasized.
