CRIME PREVENTION STEERING GROUP (CPSG) MEETING ON SOC PREVENT PROJECT IN LAGOS STATE

As you already know, Nigeria’s ongoing battle with double-digit inflation-exacerbated poverty and worsening insecurity has led to an alarming rise in Serious and Organised Crimes among young people. Thus, as part of efforts to combat this menace, the CLEEN Foundation in partnership with Torch Light Group is implementing a community-driven and sustained crime-prevention project known as PREVENT Serious Organized Crime (SOC), in three Local government Areas of Lagos State.

One of the core components of the project was the formulation of a Crime Prevention Steering Group made of a cross-section of professionals from different sectors; the primary responsibility of the group is to interface and render technical support to the selected Crime Prevention Partners who are working in the target local government areas with the beneficiaries.

On this note, a familiarization meeting was held in Lagos State on April 14 to reiterate the objectives of the project and bring new members of the group up to speed as to what their strategic responsibilities were, and the areas in which their expert-support will be needed.

While addressing the group, after giving a brief overview of the project, the duties, and responsibilities of the Steering Group, the Project Lead, Mrs. Blessing Abiri urged members of the Crime Prevention Steering Group to proactively attend to their duties and work with the Crime Prevention Partners for the smooth implementation of the project.
