Second Virtual PREVENT Awareness Meeting on Preventing Serious and Organised Crime under the “Brighter Futures Programme” in Lagos State.

CLEEN Foundation’s Lagos team hosted the second virtual PREVENT awareness meeting focused on the prevention of serious and organised crime. The discussion centred on building partnerships for the sustainability of the Brighter Futures Programme (SOC-Prevent) for beneficiaries.

This meeting aimed to improve awareness and understanding of the multifaceted strategies required to effectively tackle organised crime. Key stakeholders, including government officials, law enforcement officers, community leaders, and NGOs, engaged in thoughtful dialogue about the importance of preventive measures. Innovative approaches were shared, emphasizing the role of robust community engagement and education as fundamental tools in crime prevention.

This project, funded by the Torchlight Initiative and the UK Government, is focused on preventing crime, particularly among youths, through skill acquisition and empowerment. So far, beneficiaries from the Ikorodu Local Government Area have received training in digital skills, creative arts, media, and chess. These activities are being overseen by our team and trained Crime Prevention Partners (CPPs) spread across the project area.

If you missed this one, saddle up for our next exciting virtual session!
