CLEEN Foundation held a five-day workshop in Katsina on police reform, trauma healing, and community safety. Participants included police officers, community leaders, civil society, judiciary members, and the media.
During the workshop, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, committed to establishing trauma desks across the state. Five officers will be assigned to provide referrals and support services for those affected by violence and trauma.
The initiative, supported by the UNDP, the Government of Germany, and GS Foundation, promotes police-community collaboration and trauma-informed policing. Sessions were facilitated by Prof. Etannibi Alemika and mental health professionals.
The workshop marked the beginning of a broader push for more empathetic and accountable policing across multiple states.
