CLEEN Marks International Day of Peace with Webinar on Local Solutions

To mark the 2025 International Day of Peace, CLEEN Foundation hosted a national webinar themed “Community First: Local Solutions for a Peaceful Nigeria.” The distinguished panel comprised experts in military operations, public policy analysts, and representatives from various civil society organizations. The discussions revolved around understanding the unique challenges faced by different communities and identifying effective local solutions. One of the key takeaways was the importance of community involvement in peace processes, emphasizing that sustainable peace is often rooted in localized efforts and the empowerment of individuals at the grassroots level.

The panelists shared insights on successful peace initiatives and discussed how these models could be adapted and implemented in other regions. Topics such as local governance, youth engagement, and cultural exchange were highlighted as crucial elements in fostering peaceful coexistence. Moreover, the need for collaborative efforts between local communities and governmental or international bodies was emphasized as a means to reinforce peace initiatives. The session featured peacebuilders, policymakers, and civil society actors who shared how communities are driving conflict prevention, rebuilding trust, and fostering inclusive governance. Panellists from the Nigeria Women Trust Fund, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, and the Plateau State Multi-Door Courthouse all called for stronger inclusion and sustained dialogue.

As the event wrapped up, participants echoed a unified message: peace begins with people, and when communities are empowered, Nigeria moves closer to lasting stability.
