CLEEN Foundation Condemns the Heinous Public Execution of Brigadier General Uba: An Unacceptable Act of Aggression Against the State
CLEEN Foundation fervidly condemns in the strongest possible terms the barbaric and unconscionable public execution of Brigadier General Musa Uba the commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade of the Nigerian Armed Forces during a routine patrol to secure communities along the Damboa-Biu axis. This heinous act, executed by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a manner calculated to sow terror and undermine the foundations of our nation, is not merely a crime against an individual but a direct and intolerable act of aggression against the sovereignty, stability, and security of the Nigerian State.
The public murder of Brig Gen Uba, and four operatives; two soldiers and two CJTF officials’, servants dedicated to the security and defense of our territory and its people, represents a brazen challenge to our sovereignty and the rule of law. It is a profound assault on the very institutions that guarantee peace and order. Such acts must not be tolerated under any circumstances and demand an immediate, resolute, and unified response from all levels of government and society.
This tragic incident underscores the urgent need for deeper reforms in Nigeria’s security architecture, improved civilian–security cooperation, and proactive conflict-prevention strategies. Violence against state actors is a threat to all Nigerians and must be confronted decisively and lawfully. The military, as the key protector of our national integrity, cannot have its personnel targeted with such impunity.
CLEEN Foundation Therefore Calls For:
Justice and Accountability: All relevant security agencies must launch a thorough, swift, and comprehensive investigation on the compromise of his location to ensure that the perpetrators of this despicable act, and all those who aided and abetted them, are apprehended and brought to justice through due process and the full force of the law.
Upholding the Rule of Law: We reiterate our unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy and the Rule of Law. Aggression and extra-judicial violence, irrespective of the motives of the perpetrators, must never be allowed to replace the state’s monopoly on legitimate force and justice.
CLEEN Foundation extends its deepest condolences to the family of Brigadier General Uba, and other fallen heroes, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the nation as a whole. We stand in solidarity with all citizens and agencies committed to the defense of our country against all forms of aggression and lawlessness.
The government must act decisively to reaffirm its authority and demonstrate that such acts of terror against the State will be met with uncompromising resolve and swift justice. We reaffirm our commitment to promoting public safety, justice, and the rule of law across the country.
